the Alaskan pitbull in lipstick, caribou barbie or brainless twit. The winner by mile is Sarah Palin.
PolitiFact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking Web site of the St. Petersburg Times, has named Sarah Palin’s claim about “death panels” the 2009 Lie of the Year.
They should have thrown in a bonus prize for her remarks about climate change on twitter a couple of days ago.
“Copenhgen=arrogance of man2think we can change nature’s ways.MUST b good stewards of God’s earth,but arrogant&naive2say man overpwers nature”

Don’t you just love her attempt to fit in with the twitter crowd with her attempt to cram in as much stupidity into 140 characters as possible.
Oklahoma County District Judge Daniel Owens extended a temporary restraining order on a law that would post information online about women who get abortions in the state.
The restraining order will be in effect until February when there will be a hearing about whether the law should be struck down.
Oklahoma, the state that brought us the chief obstructionist in the Senate, Tom Coburn and that other climate change clown James Inhofe decided that it would be a good idea to post detailed information on the web about women who have abortions in the state. The information does not include the names but using the data that is collected many women could easily be identified.
State Sen. Todd Lamb who drafted the legislation said that this was “a common sense measure with bipartisan support.” He added ”We’re not trying to embarrass anybody, hurt anybody or make anybody’s identities known. That’s not the purpose of the legislation. We ..continue reading
Republicans are doing everything possible to obstruct health care reform.
One of their tactics has been to distort the amount that health care reform will cost.
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has scored both the Senate and House bills at costing under $1 trillion over a ten year period.
The Republicans have continual lied about the numbers and claimed that it will actually cost somewhere between $1.5 and $2.5 trillion over the ten year period.
Not to be outdone Michael, Steele RNC Chairman claimed during an interview with the Right Wing News blog, that health care reform will actually cost $1 trillion each year.
Where did that number come from? Out of his pea-sized brain.
Another total fabrication by the Republicans.
Some two bit right wing blogger named Michael Godfarb made up a story a few days ago that the Obama administration threatened to close an Air force base in Nebraska if Ben Nelson (D-NE) did not vote for health care reform.
Goldfarb could not produce any credible evidence but that didn’t stop Republicans in Congress from calling this one of the most outrageous acts they have ever seen. I guess Bush/Cheney lying us into a war is nothing compared to his unsubstantiated rumor.
thinkprogress reports that Republicans are up in arms about this nonsense. Ben Nelson immediately denied this as “yellow journalism at its worst” adding that this is from “inside-the-Beltway partisans who only want to derail health care reform.”
But the Republicans hammered away
SEN. KIT BOND (R-MO): “The rumors out there, we haven’t confirmed it, but the rumor keeps coming back that he’s threatened to close a major air base in Nebraska. It is total blackmail. It’s the worst kind of ..continue reading
Today Al Franken did what every other Democrat in Congress should have done for the last few months. Tell Lieberman to shut up.
As talkingpointsmemo describes “Lieberman was giving a ten-minute speech on health care reform. Franken, who was presiding over the Senate, cut him off when his ten minutes were up. When Lieberman requested unanimous consent for an extra few minutes to finish his speech, Franken, in his capacity as a senator from Minnesota, objected. And, in his capacity as presiding officer, Franken honored the objection.”
“After a brief moment of tension, Lieberman laughed and said he didn’t take it personally, and requested that the rest of his speech be put in the record.”
“Then McCain took the floor to defend his friend, saying he’d never seen anything like it.”
As an update talkingpointsmemo notes ”Franken spokeswoman Jess McIntosh calls to clarify: Leadership today asked all the presiding officers to keep floor speeches — ..continue reading
