The Tea Party has found a new cause. In a reverse course the Party is seeking to impose a government regulation (instead of getting the government out of people’s lives) to require schools to play Christmas music and have pupils participate.
Calling it the ”Freedom to Present Christmas Music in Public School Classrooms or Assemblies” initiative the Redding (California) Tea Party is dead serious about this.
The local paper the Record Searchlight reports
“The initiative would require schools to provide children the opportunity to listen to or perform Christmas carols, and would subject the schools to litigation if the rule isn’t followed.”
“Schools currently are allowed to offer Christmas music as long as it is used for academic purposes rather than devotional purposes and isn’t used to promote a particular religious belief, according to an analysis by the California Legislative Analyst’s Office.”

South Africa is planning to offer free AIDS drugs to children infected with the disease.
This is after being governed for years by President Thabo Mbeki, who denied the link between HIV and AIDS. According to a study by Harvard this resulted in over 300,000 premature deaths.
Approximately 1 in 9 people in South Africa are infected with HIV, the highest number in the world.
Last year Mbeki was ousted and was replaced by Jacob Zuma, who has compared the fight against AIDS to the fight against apartheid. During a speech today he said ’At another moment in our history, in another context, the liberation movement observed that the time comes in the life of any nation when there remain only two choices: submit or fight. That time has now come in our struggle to overcome AIDS. Let us declare now, as we declared then, that we shall not submit.”

The U.N.’s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean released a report this week that finds that up to 40% of women in Latin America were victims of physical violence. The number for emotional abuse is even higher.
The report states that “a close relationship exists between inequality, discrimination and violence against women.”
“Further, violence against women gains strength from and is promoted by the persistence of the balance of power that takes [from women] possibilities to exercise economic, political and physical autonomy.”
Laura Carrera, Mexico’s national commissioner for the prevention of violence against women said ”Trafficked, sold, exploited for sexual reasons; excluded from employment and school because they are pregnant; discriminated or attacked for not hewing to masculine criteria…. Violence against women does not distinguish among social class, origin, generation, color of skin nor creed”.
As is the case with children in many parts of the world, women are treated as second class ..continue reading

Talking about something that is annoying… The constant barrage of anti-Republican and highly political messages here! Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like the GOP… I don’t like Sarah Palin but it would be nice to see basic annoying topics here like…. Shoe laces that never stay tied or the call procedures at the DMV.. I’ve been a member of this site for 6 months and joined because I loved the inane annoyances.. For political banter I can go to CNN.com, the Onion, The SmirkingChimp, Buzzflash, NewsMax…. and the list goes on… Leave politics where they belong.. on their own trashy sites….

After the shooting at Fort Hood by Nidal Hasan, a Muslim, Fox and Friends hosts Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson know just what needs to be done.
Kilmeade: “Do you think it’s time for the military to have special debriefings of Muslim Army officers — anybody enlisted?…Because if I’m going to be deployed in a foxhole, if I’m going to be sticking in an outpost, I got to know the guy next to me is not going to want to kill me.”
Carlson: “Could it be that out military was also exercising political correctness — even though he had a poor performance report, even though he spoke openly about being a radical and had those supposed postings online — could it be that the military was exercising political correctness in not approaching as seriously as they would have if he had not been a Muslim.”
Michele Bachmann, Carlson’s former nanny, must be so proud of this dimwit.
