I wonder which oil corporation paid the ghost writer to write Sarah Palin’s latest Washington Post column.
In the Post today Palin shows once again why she should be the Republican nominee for president in 2012. Totally clueless which makes her the perfect selection for the party of obstruction.
Palin as most deniers believe that stealing and revealing the content of the emails is one of the greatest discoveries of our time.
Here are some highlights from her ghost written column:
“The agenda-driven policies being pushed in Copenhagen won’t change the weather, but they would change our economy for the worse.”Really, maybe worse for the oil companies but not the rest of us.
“I’ve always believed that policy should be based on sound science, not politics.” What a joke
“..we recognize the occurrence of these natural, cyclical environmental trends, we can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes. We can say, however, that ..continue reading
Thomas Friedman, the author of The World is Flat and a columnist in the NYT, can be both enlightening and infuriating.
During an interview with Charlie Rose in 2003 Friedman declared that we attacked Iraq because we could. Not because of Saddam, WMD and all the other lies that were circulating for years about why we were in Iraq. He stated that the message was “suck on this”. We wanted to get even with someone for 9/11 and Iraq seemed like an easy choice. Not Saudi Arabia where most of the terrorists were from, or Pakistan where Al Qaeda and the Taliban were hiding.
Most consider Friedman to be a liberal but sometimes he says things that make you wonder what is going on in his mind.
In his column in yesterday’s New York Times he compares Cheney’s 1% doctrine with climate change.
Cheney stated “If there’s a 1% chance that Pakistani scientists are helping Al ..continue reading
James Inhofe (R-OK) is persistent if nothing else, even if it means lying to further his anti-climate change agenda.
The climate change critics are acting like little terriers who have latched onto a pant leg and will not let go. They have turned some stolen emails into climate-gate. According to them the emails prove that scientists have conspired for years to lie to the public about climate change.
The emails state nothing of the sort. The critics have taken some terms in the emails that are commonly used by scientists to adjust findings for different time periods and turned this into a “conspiracy”.
But Inhofe marches on. On CNN today he declared
“..if it was just me saying it’d be one thing, but all over the world they’re talking about this. And just this morning the meteorologists — one of the groups — has said that they’re changing their position. Listen, the UK Telegraph — this is worst scientific scandal of ..continue reading
In September I posted here about the problems with water that we use for drinking, bathing, etc.
Yesterday the New York Times posted an article that said that “More than 20 percent of the nation’s water treatment systems have violated key provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act over the last five years.”
“..since 2004, the water provided to more than 49 million people has contained illegal concentrations of chemicals like arsenic or radioactive substances like uranium, as well as dangerous bacteria often found in sewage.”
“..regulatory records show that fewer than 6 percent of the water systems that broke the law were ever fined or punished by state or federal officials, including those at the Environmental Protection Agency, which has ultimate responsibility for enforcing standards.”
“Studies indicate that drinking water contaminants are linked to millions of instances of illness within the United States each year. …scientific research indicates that as many as ..continue reading
David Koch is a right-wing billionaire who has public and not so public images.
The public image he presents is one of a conservative interested in advancing non-political causes with a true interest in science. His not so public image is one of using his money to torpedo anything that may affect the profits of his oil and gas enterprise, Koch Industries and to de-rail anything that doesn’t conform with his ultra-conservative stance.
In an article for the Boston Globe, Fang Lee states
“In early November, thousands of protesters descended on Capitol Hill to hear Representative Michele Bachmann decry House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “takeover’’ of health care. As they disembarked from their buses, they were greeted with doughnuts and coffee, and handed protest signs and talking points about socialized medicine. Few of the protesters were aware that a right-wing billionaire (Koch) had paid for the meals, buses, or salaries of the helpful guides. ..continue reading
