The FDA must be busy these days

I read the Percocet and Vicodin post here earlier today and then just noticed that the FDA just issued warnings on Chantix and Zyban. both of these medications are anti-smoking drugs.
It turns out that these drugs carry the risk of severe mental health problems including depression, suicidal thoughts, behavioral changes, agitation and aggression. The FDA has ordered Pfizer maker of Chantix and GlaxoSmith Kline maker of Zyban to study how often these serious side effects occur.
This must a joke. The FDA needs a major overhaul. It is ordering the companies who make the products to study the side effects. It’s like putting the fox in charge of the hens. This is after there were 98 suicides and 188 attempted suicides by people taking Chantix and 14 suicides and 17 attempts by Zyban users.
The FDA’s immediate requirement is only that warnings be placed with the two products.
The FDA is zero for two this week. First the Percocet and Vicodin problems and now this.
Of course banning tobacco would go a long way to eliminate this problem and greatly reduce many other medical problems.
