The Franklin Park Zoo in Boston claims that it will have to close down both the Franklin Zoo and the Stone Zoo in Stoneham within six months if additional funds are not provided. Currently they are funded by the State of Massachusetts, private donations and money raised from attractions.
It further stated that it will attempt to find a home for all its animals but up to 20% may not be placed and may have to be euthanized.
I can’t believe that they can not find homes for all their animals in other zoos in the US, Canada and elsewhere.
Are they seriously talking about killing perfectly healthy animals because they can’t place them? or is this just a threat to raise money and keep the zoos open?
