Killing the Republican Party, Part 2

The conservatives are preparing to do a victory dance while the remainder of the Republican party is preparing for its biggest nightmare.

After the 2006 and 2008 elections the Republican party seems to be imploding.

The fringe right wingers are taking over the Republican party and its targets are now their own.

The denials of the GOP that the Limbaughs and Becks are the true leaders and drivers of the party appear to be nothing but lies.

This week the conservative Doug Hoffman, running for the hotly contested District 23 seat in NY,  basically bowed to Glenn Beck calling him his mentor. He previously told Beck “I do believe that our founding fathers envisioned that normal people would go to Washington to represent us, and I think it’s time for people like you and me to stand up and do something about it.” and “I’m a member of the 9/12 group” the Beck inspired tea party nutcases.

Politico reports that right wingers are targeting  ”a list that includes Gov. Charlie Crist in Florida, former Rep. Rob Simmons in Connecticut and Rep. Mark Kirk in Illinois, among others.”

From “I would say it’s the tip of the spear,” said Dick Armey, the former GOP House majority leader who now serves as chairman of FreedomWorks, an organization that has been closely aligned with the tea party movement. “We are the biggest source of energy in American politics today.”

“What you’re going to see,” said Armey, “is moderates and conservatives across the country in primaries.”

Armey and his merry band of extremists will attack any moderate Republican who even thinks of running for office.
