A problem looking for a solution

I read this article in the New York Times and I can’t figure out why someone has not come up with a solution.

The problem is that the carp in Lake Utah has flourished and is threatening to throw off the ecological balance. The Utah Department of Natural Resources is trying to remove 50 million pounds of carp over the next 6 years.

So far they have not figured out how to dispose of 10 to 20 tons of carp each day.

“The common carp, introduced in the United States from Europe over a century ago, has done uncommonly well in Utah Lake — so well that it has out competed the June sucker, a native fish on the federal endangered species list.”

It seems to me that there should be a way to cook and freeze the fish and ship it to homeless shelters and soup kitchens across the country.

There must be a company out there with the technology and equipment to do this.

Each year that carp could be used to serve approximately 15-20 million meals to the hungry.
