Republicans blame Al Franken for their pro-rape vote

The Republicans are sinking to new lows. Every day there is a new revelation about how spineless, gutless and sleazy the Republicans are these days.

The latest is a blame game. The Republicans are blaming Al Franken for the anti-rape amendment he introduced to allow employees of military contractors due process if raped.

John Cronyn (R-TX) said  “Trying to tap into the natural sympathy that we have for this victim of this rape —and use that as a justification to frankly misrepresent and embarrass his colleagues, I don’t think it’s a very constructive thing,”

In other words this was just a scheme by Franken to make the Republicans look bad. The fact that they voted against an amendment that protects American women means little to them. It is all about them and shattering their fake high moral family values image.

John Thune (R-SD) added  “I don’t know what his motivation was for taking us on, but I would hope that we won’t see a lot of Daily Kos-inspired amendments in the future coming from him.  I think hopefully he’ll settle down and do kind of the serious work of legislating that’s important to Minnesota.”

I guess Thune is asking Franken to join the Republicans in obstructing just about every piece of legislation that has come up since Obama was elected. That must be what he calls “the serious work of legislating”.

Here is a short clip that ran on Rachel Maddow’s show last night that sums it up (if it doesn’t appear below you can find it here ):
