John Boehner must have come up with this one.

The Republicans have a new thing to rage about.

It is the 10% tax that the new health care reform bill will impose on establishments providing indoor tanning services.

Only John Boehner who is perpetually tanned could have come up with this latest Republican outcry of foul play.

You really appreciate how stupid these Republicans are when one of them actually asks what tanning salons have to do with health care.

Anyone who has read a newspaper or watched the news knows that there is an increased risk of cancer when tanning at these salons. Oh wait, these are the same Republicans who also don’t believe in climate change. Reality and truth are meaningless to them.

As thinkprogress points out ”the International Agency for Research on Cancer “raised their warning of tanning beds from ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’ to ‘carcinogenic to humans,’” concluding that “the ultraviolet light used in tanning beds (as with the sun’s rays) has been shown to raise the risk of skin cancer.” “The report cited the group’s own research analysis published in 2006, finding the use of tanning beds before age 30 to be associated with a 75% increase in melanoma risk.

Next these Republicans will want to repeal all taxes on cigarettes. They will claim that cigarettes are perfectly safe.

I think that a new law is required. Every time a Representative or Senator wastes the taxpayers time making totally idiotic speeches his or her salary should be reduced by 5%.

Some of their rhetoric isn’t actually that wrong - but what I ask, is - WHY have the cosmetic surgeons and beverly hills botox-factories not been slapped with the same tax? Oh, yeah, I forgot.. they PRESSURED Dems to drop it, or the AMA would not be on board, perhaps?

IF you want to add a new “tax”, how about one to LEGAL SERVICES for frivolous lawsuits, and “LOSER PAYS”? Oh, yeah, I forgot again… it’s because the Lawyers would probably lose more of their business, too, right?
