First Senator to filibuster House bill: Joe Lieberman

Joe Lieberman on FOX News Sunday (where else would Lieberman be?) became the first Senator to quickly voice his opposition to the House bill which passed last night.

This ex-Democrat and now pseudo independent (actually more of a Republican than many Republicans) is willing to stand in the way of health care coverage for over 45 million uninsured Americans.

According to thinkprogress Lieberman has actually picked up the far right wing talking points

LIEBERMAN: A public option plan is unnecessary. It has been put forward, I’m convinced, by people who really want the government to take over all of health insurance. They’ve got a right to do that; I think that would be wrong.

But worse than that, we have a problem even greater than the health insurance problems, and that is a debt — $12 trillion today, projected to be $21 trillion in 10 years.

WALLACE: So at this point, I take it, you’re a “no” ..continue reading

Ego-maniac Lieberman

It appears that the people of Connecticut, or for that matter the people of the United States and their position on health care reform don’t mean a thing to Joe Lieberman.

With the majority of people in this country (and Connecticut) favoring a public option you would think Lieberman would listen to them.

No such luck. To him this is about ego and having his day in the sun.

When questioned about this by reporters in Connecticut yesterday his response, according to was “I feel relevant”.

Lieberman seems to forget that the people of Connecticut voted him into office to represent them not represent himself and his friends and donors for the insurance industry. According to this article he has received $1,037,402 from the insurance industry over the last 20 years.

When pressed on the point that the majority favor the public option Lieberman decided that he people of Connecticut just don’t understand or ..continue reading

Can the people of Connecticut impeach Lieberman?

I think it is time for the people of Connecticut to step up to the plate and kick some sense into Lieberman.

Last month polls showed that approximately 68% of Connecticut’s voters favored a public option.

Today Lieberman told reporters

“I told Senator Reid that I’m strongly inclined — I haven’t totally decided, but I’m strongly inclined — to vote to proceed to the health care debate, even though I don’t support the bill that he’s bringing together because it’s important that we start the debate on health care reform because I want to vote for health care reform this year. But I also told him that if the bill remains what it is now, I will not be able to support a cloture motion before final passage. Therefore I will try to stop the passage of the bill.

I can’t understand why the people of Connecticut re-elected this bozo. He is worse than some ..continue reading

Blatant racism at town hall meeting

You may expect this in the South, but in Norwalk Connecticut?

A Bishop from Stamford Connecticut stood up to ask a question at a town hall meeting. His question related to the loss of health care coverage when losing a job. He asked the question in Spanish because that is his native language and he knew that Representative Jim Himes who ran the town hall meeting is fluent in Spanish. Himes translated the Bishop’s question before answering it.

Again it is evident that these people do not want civil discussions about health care reform. Racism is just another element of who they are.
