The United Homeless Organization (UHO), a nonprofit group set up to help feed and house the homeless, is an elaborate fraud.
The group’s founder and president, Stephen Riley, and its director, Myra Walker, set up a scheme whereby they charge a daily fee for the folding tables and UHO materials and coin jars to street peddlers who then collect money and pocket most of the money with the remainder going back to Riley and Walker.
The NYT indicated that Riley and Walker have spent the money to pay bills at Weightwatchers.com, Toys “R” Us, P. C. Richard, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and premium cable and electricity bills at their homes.
The Homeless are probably not receiving anything from these collections.
NYS Attorney General Andrew Cuomo filed a lawsuit against the organization and stated “U.H.O. exploits the good intentions of people who thought that their charitable donations were helping ..continue reading
