For months the story of the uninsured has been circulating in the media. 45 million uninsured Americans.

The latest sobering figure is that 17 million Americans had trouble putting food on the table in the past year. That was an increase from 13 million last year. This is from a report by the Agriculture Department.

The greatest nation on earth does not provide health insurance coverage for many of its citizens while others are going hungry.

This is a very sad reflection of who we are as a people.

Climate change kills 300,000 each year

A report just released, titled ”Human Impact Report: Climate Change — The Anatomy of a Silent Crisis”, claims that 300,000 people, many children die because of climate change.

“The vast majority of deaths — 99 percent — are in developing countries which are estimated to have contributed less than one percent of the world’s total carbon emissions.”

“Around 45 million of the 900 million people estimated to be chronically hungry are suffering due to climate change, the report says. Within 20 years that number is expected to double. At the same time food production is expected to fall, driving food prices up 20%.”

It makes me sick to think Bush and his cronies stood in the way of working on these problems for 8 years.
