Blackwater murders continue

The Blackwater saga never ends when it comes to murder.

 

According to CNN “Two men who worked as security contractors for the company formerly known as Blackwater have been charged with murder in the killings of two Afghan men, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.”

 

“Christopher Drotleff and Justin Cannon are charged with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder each in connection with the May shootings in Kabul. The 12-count, 19-page indictment returned by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia also includes weapons charges against the two men.”

 

“Drotleff, Cannon and two other contractors, Steven McClain and Armando Hamid, were involved in a shooting in Kabul on May 5, 2009, that left two Afghan civilians dead and another wounded. The men had been hired by Paravant, a subsidiary of Xe, the controversial military contracting firm formerly known as Blackwater,  to help the U.S. Army train ..continue reading

The Virginia Tech shootings

A report by Arlington-based System Planning Corporation’s TriData division, an independent public safety consulting firm, claims that the Virginia Tech campus police did not send an alert out about the shooter until 2 hours after the first two victims were found.

 

It further states that officials began to lock down buildings and alerted family and relatives 90 minutes before a general alert was released to all students and faculty.

 

One member of the group charged with sending the alert out sent the following email to a colleague in Richmond at 8:45 AM ’Gunman on the loose. This is not releasable yet,’. The general alert was not sent until 9:26 AM, almost 45 minutes after this email was sent.

 

The CNN article indicates that “The president’s building was locked down by 8:52 a.m., 34 minutes before the rest of campus knew what was happening and more than 40 minutes before the first shots were heard ringing out from ..continue reading
