There is a line where the freedom of speech crosses over to incitement to commit violence.

Free speech is one of the reasons this country is what it is but that freedom should come  with some sense of responsibility.

Incitement to commit violence should not be considered free speech. It is a direct threat.

The NYT reports that Harold Turner an Internet radio host from North Bergen NJ has been broadcasting from his home studio since 2001.

At one time is was seeking political office in NJ but when the Republican party chose a Hispanic woman instead of him he decided to turn to broadcasting his hate radio program.

He is known for his anti-immigration and anti-Semitic broadcasts.

He was arrested in June for threatening to kill three Chicago judges who had ruled in favor of a gun ban.  Turner posted on his website “These judges deserve to be killed. Their blood will replenish the tree of liberty.” He continued “The government ..continue reading

Steele: our rhetoric does not incite violence

Michael Steele was bent out of shape by a column by Thomas Friedman on Wednesday in the New York Times that the current environment is similar to the one in Israel that resulted in the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995.

Steele’s response was ”To make those equations, examples and put that out there that way, to me is just crazy and yeah, I’m sorry, but if you’re going to approach this discussion, approach it from a rational position (LOL).  They’re saying, because you disagree with the president on policy, that all of the sudden we’re going to make this leap into, you know, assassinations and all this other stuff. I mean, at the height of all this stuff on Bush and people complaining and protesting, and jumping up and down, you didn’t have this kind of conversation.”

Steele must be living in a cave (maybe the same one that Cheney was hiding in for part of ..continue reading

Health care reform debate gets violent.

Apparently two men got into a confrontation in Los Angeles.

The story is that a man was trying to reach a pro-reform rally when he was confronted by anti-reform group.

The confrontation resulted in the pro-reform man being punched by a 65 year old member of the anti-reform group. The pro-reformer bit off part of the other man’s pinky finger and then fled.

The irony of this story is that the victim was sent home by doctors after they reattached the digit — all covered by his Medicare policy.

When will this insanity stop? Did the anti-reformer understand that his government plan is covering his medical bills and that all reformers want is the equivalent option for all Americans?

Why have Republicans lost their moral bearing?

The town hall meetings occurring across the country have  exposed one striking fact. The Republicans have lost their moral bearing, if they had morals at all. They have made a commitment to oppose any form of health care reform and it is becoming more and more obvious by their absurd responses and reactions (or lack of) to their constituents.

A woman whose husband needs extensive medical and nursing support confronted Senator Tom Coburn at a town hall meeting. His response: get neighbors to help out and the government is not here to help you.

When watching this you have to question if Coburn has a heart. Coburn is a doctor and he reminds me of many doctors who are as cold as ice when dealing with patients.

Then we have someone at a Chuck Grassley town hall stating the following:

“The president of the ..continue reading

These people should thank Obama for being in office

I wonder if it dawned on any of the so called “protesters” or “patriots”, or whatever they call themselves, what life would be like for them if they tried similar shenanigans if the Bush/Cheney administration was still in office. They should be thankful Obama is in office.

I bet by now they would be under interrogation by the CIA, maybe even waterboarded in one of those undeclared jails.

Here is a sample of these “Americans” (click on images to enlarge):
